Big Tings...

Big tings indeed! Unless you're involved in the music industry you probably don't think about how fans interact with the music we write. Most people only ever interact with a song. They hear it on the radio and if they like it enough, they learn the lyrics and maybe they even download an mp3. Others like it so much they buy the album and watch the videos on YouTube. Then you have the dedicated few that love the song and artist so much that they go above and beyond and buy tickets to a show.

While I love all of the people that interact with our music, this third group is where the magic happens. When an artist is able to interact with its fans, it becomes a relationship. You can't get that through any other medium including social media. There is nothing like an artist performing for the people that love their music. With that in mind, we've got some pretty amazing show announcements.

09/19 - Playground Etiquette Live @ Chapala Rock Bar: If you're new to Playground Etiquette then you are in for a big surprise. If there is one word to describe them it would be cinematic. Every song provides a mood, texture, and a visual...almost like a soundtrack to whatever you might be going through. On top of that their live show is intense. See this show at ALL COSTS!

10/17 - JOR-G Live @ The Nest: You've heard the music and you've seen the videos. Now JOR-G is bringing his brand of hip hop to Downtown Miami and you should find your way to the show because it is going to be insane. Tickets are available at www.jorgmuzik.com/tickets.

11/10 - Erica Ashley Live w/Aaron Carter: Erica has been picking up steam since the release of her first single/video. It landed her on CBS TV and performed as direct support to Travis Garland & Colby O'Donnis on the the Fashionably Late tour. Now she's back with Aaron Carter and it's going to be phenomenal.

If you've only been a casual listener in the past I hope you take the leap and get to one of these live shows. I promise that you'll hear so much more in the music. Bobs your uncle...see you at the shows!

Who's Having the Best Week Ever?

The answer is PopRiot Music Group...and what a week it was.

After you launch a video/single you usually have some time to breath. The excitement and pace drop off and it turns into watching sales stats, ad placements, blah, blah, blah. That didn't happen this time. Following the launch of the most ambitious video in PopRiot history, Erica Ashely's brand new single "Supernova" was released just one week later. Breathing had to wait.

The song is the title track from her sophomore release and it may very well be the best song in the PopRiot catalog. It marks the continued development of Erica as an artist and the evolution of the sound of her music. This record has put aside the dance pop sound of Hearts Collide and focuses more on organic instrumentation and her incredible voice and range.

"Supernova" was released as a lyric video and the response has been amazing. Wordkrapht Magazine featured the song in it's Daily Krapht column and gave it two thumbs up. Then tour mate Aaron Carter tweeted about the song and his fans jumped all over it. So yes...it's been an intense, amazing week but we are definitely having the best week ever.

Ok...off the gauge like Ellen Page!

You really need to hear this song…NOW!

frequency2.jpg

I'd like to introduce you to a phenomenal new track that we just released today. The song is called FREQUENCY and features two of our favourite artists - JOR-G and Erica Ashley. If you're a into JOR-G then you'll know him from classics like "Kennedy" and "Family" and if you're an Erica Ashley fan then you probably have "Hearts Collide" on your iPhone right now. Either way you haven't heard either of them like this. FREQUENCY is EPIC. It's an adventure…it's intense…it will instantly be the soundtrack to a movie playing in your head. The best news is that we're doing a pre-iTunes release and it's on sale for the throwback price of $0.99. Check it out and download it NOW!

New Singles & Our First International Signing!

ek_single_art.png

I'm a little behind so this blog is chock full of news and updates. First let's start with new releases. About a week ago we launched the debut single from Emily K. The song is called "This Little City" and it's a legit smash. More people emailed me about this track than any of our other releases. You should got to Emily's page and listen now! Look out for a FREE download soon!

There's another new release I've been talking about for a month and I can't tell you how excited our team is to release this song. The track is called "Frequency" and it features both JOR-G & Erica Ashley. I know somebody here is going to kill me but for some reason it reminds me of 30 Seconds to Mars…if 30 Seconds to Mars was a rapper from Miami and a 14 year old pop star. The song comes out 12/12/13 so check back then. Please support PopRiot and our artists by sharing the song on your social networks!

The biggest news of the week is that we have signed our VERY FIRST international artist. Introducing Jamie "YoungBlood" Hardman from Blackpool, England. Please help us welcome YoungBlood by visiting his page, following him on Twitter, and subscribing on YouTube. His first single is scheduled for release the week of January 24th and we expect VERY big things for him. Stay tuned...

28 Days Later

We are currently in the middle of a 28 day studio binge. Maybe 28 Days Later was actually about the music industry because I will definitely be a zombie at the end of this.

It all started with "This Little City" by Emily K. We huddled up for final writing sessions, tracked it out, got her into the booth, and out came 3:58 of magic. Beautiful song. Look for it this Thursday, 12/05/13 when it's released for streaming on her Facebook pageOn deck right now is "Frequency". It's a bit of a Rap/Pop hybrid and features both Jor-G and Erica Ashley. It promises to be a smash so check back right before Christmas for the big reveal.

We've talked a lot about the singles we're dropping this month but one of the most anticipated releases on our books comes just after the new year. Playground Etiquette releases its EPIC new album "La Marionnette" on January 18. Produced by PopRiot's own Athena Hiotis and mixed by the amazing Drew Mazurek (Linkin Park, Souls At Zero). If you're local, get your tickets for the CD RELEASE SHOW on the 18th and get a free copy of the CD at the event!

Signing off but can't wait to share some super secret news about Erica Ashely. All I can say now is that she's in a bit of a sticky situation. See ya!

Being #1, One Direction, and the Best Week Ever

reverb2.jpg

I plan everything so my weeks have a mind-numbing rhythm. Wake up, read email, post a bunch of garbage on Facebook/Twitter, write music, and then repeat. I know...the glamour of it all right? THEN there are weeks like this one that start the same but blow up into a frenzy of insane happiness and joy.

The first thing I want to announce is that we now have TWO #1 artists. JOR-G has been holding down his position as #1 Hip Hop artist for months. He's pretty much the King of Miami at this point. Ok...that's a bit much. Lebron probably owns that crown but JOR-G would definitely be his right hand man. Joking aside, PopRiot is now home to another #1 artist - Erica Ashely! She's been a strong contender on the Pop Chart for months, bouncing up and down in the Top 10 but she finally did it. It's fitting that they're both #1 since they are collaborating on a new single called "Frequency" to be released near Christmas.

As you can tell the week went from meh to awesome and we were all riding the high. Then awesome took a turn for out of control surprise, mayhem, and amazement. You've heard of that little boy band from England right? They're called One Direction...you may have seen pictures. While they were broadcasting their global 1DDay show, Harry Styles - OUT OF THE BLUE - gave a shout out to Erica Ashley on television! WHAT? No way! Yes...WAY! He and the band THEN followed her on Twitter and hundreds of their fans followed suit. It's been a flurry of activity ever since.

So...who's having the BEST WEEK EVER? We are!

Oh...we'll just be over here watching all of the awesome.

I'll keep it short but sweet but there's is so much awesome it's hard to contain. My last post was all about charts but now I want to talk awards. JOR-G's video "Kennedy" was just awarded "Best Original Video" and "Best Original Song" by BEAT100. Not to mention the video is still holding as the #10 independent hip hop video in the world!

That by itself is awesome news but Erica Ashley is simply killing it. Having watched her come so far it's a proud moment to see her releasing her EP, performing with national acts, and playing amazing venues but next week she takes on the support role for Travis Garland and we couldn't be more proud!

Ck out both of these amazing artists and download their MP3's...we need you to help us make them household names!

PopRiot Artists Are Charting!

I love our artists but I still get a little nervous when we release a record/video hoping that everyone else will love it as as much as I do. October proved to be a HUGE relief because you guys have responded in a VERY big way.

The first sign of success came when Erica Ashley shot up to #2 on the ReverbNation pop chart with the release of her single "Shine". On top of that her video "Where Are We Now?" was rated the #3 indie video in the world on Beat100.

As if that wasn't enough, Jor-G reclaimed his #1 position on ReverbNation's hip hop chart after releasing the video for his new single "Kennedy". Now the video is BLOWING UP on BEAT100 and our whole team is predicting #1 (crosses fingers). Make sure you Check out the "Kennedy" video and download the track!

Keep up with these two because there are big things coming their way!

Jor-G Releases New "Kennedy" Video!

Our team loves making videos but this one was incredible. Multiple locations, storyline and performance sequences, slow motion camera work, costumes, two performers who had never worked together, and on top of that our Marylyn had never acted before. In the end I think it's the best video our team has ever done. Check out the video and then head to the store to download the MP3.
